Before You Publish
A Shared Journey is only as good as the journey it's built from. Before publishing, make sure each point of interest has:

A clear name
Players see this as the stop title when they arrive. Make it meaningful, not just a placeholder.

Narration text
This is what plays aloud. If a stop has no narration, it feels empty when a player arrives.

A photo (recommended)
Shown on the stop reveal screen. Significantly improves the experience.

Correct proximity radius
15 meters is normal outdoors. Wider for large open stops, tighter for precise indoor-adjacent stops.
Publishing the Journey
Open the journey from your Journeys list. Tap Turn into Shared Journey.
You'll be asked to confirm the name and optionally add a description β something like "A self-guided tour of our church property, tracing 150 years of history from the original log structure to today."
Tap Publish. The app packages your journey and uploads it to the cloud.
Personal Premium required to publish. Publishing a Shared Journey requires a Personal Premium account ($4/month). Anyone can download and walk a published journey for free β no account needed.
How the Shared Journey Experience Works
When a player downloads and opens your Shared Journey, they see the name, description, and a map of the route. They tap Begin Tour and the app starts guiding them.
π Automatic stop detection
When a player walks within the proximity radius of a stop, the app fires the reveal automatically β no button to tap. The narration plays and the photo appears.
π Auto-narration
Narration plays through the player's speaker on arrival. They can replay it anytime by tapping the stop on the map.
πΊοΈ Route map
Players see a map with all stop markers and the recorded route. They can see how far they've come and what's ahead.
β±οΈ Self-paced
No timer. Players move at whatever pace works for them. Great for families, mixed-mobility groups, or anyone who wants to linger.
Sharing the Code
After publishing, the app gives you an 8-character share code. You can also find all your published codes in the My Shared Journeys section of the Creator Portal.
Share that code any way you like β text, email, printed card, or QR code. Recipients open the Shared Journeys screen in the app, tap Download, enter the code, and the journey is on their device. It plays fully offline once downloaded β no signal needed on the walk.

Tips for Great Shared Journeys

Narration is everything. A Shared Journey without narration is just a map. Give players something to hear at every stop β even 30 seconds of context transforms the experience.

Order your stops intentionally. The journey plays in the order stops appear on your route. Think about pacing β start with something welcoming, build to your most important stop, end with something memorable.

Walk it yourself before sharing. You'll find stops where the radius is too tight, narration that sounds different outdoors than it did indoors, and photos that don't match the current season.

Works offline. Once a player downloads the journey, they don't need a data connection to walk it. Great for remote locations or areas with poor signal.
