Questing RL ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Questing RL mobile application and website at questingrl.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account information: Display name and email address when you create an account.
Content you create: Journey recordings, points of interest, Shared Journeys, hunt stops, clue text, narration text, and photos you take or upload within the app.
Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. We receive and store transaction confirmations and subscription status.
Communications: Feedback reports submitted through the app and any correspondence with us.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

GPS location data: When you use journey recording or hunt features, the app collects your precise GPS coordinates. This data is stored locally on your device and, if you have a cloud account, synced to our secure Azure servers. Location data is never sold or shared with third parties.
Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostic and support purposes.
Usage data: Feature usage patterns to improve the app. This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
To process subscription payments and manage your account
To sync your journeys, hunts, and venues across devices
To send service-related communications (account confirmations, subscription receipts)
To respond to support requests and feedback
To send product update notifications, if you have opted in
To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes. Questing RL products are ad-free.

3. Location Data — Special Notice

The Questing RL app requests access to your precise location. Location access is used exclusively for:

Recording GPS tracks during active journeys
Evaluating your position against hunt stop coordinates
Triggering proximity-based narration at points of interest

Location data is stored on your device and, if cloud sync is enabled, transmitted to our secure Azure servers in the United States. Location data is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sold.

You may revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Doing so will disable GPS recording features but will not affect your ability to use other features of the app.

4. Photos and Media

Photos you take or select within the app are stored locally on your device and, if cloud sync is enabled, uploaded to our Azure Blob Storage. Photos are associated with your account and are not publicly accessible without your explicit sharing action. You retain ownership of all photos you create.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers: Microsoft Azure (hosting and storage), Stripe (payment processing). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With your consent: For any other purpose with your explicit consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes (such as transaction records).

Content you have shared with other users (hunt sessions you created that others participated in) may be retained in anonymized form for service integrity.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit and Azure's security controls for data at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your information using commercially reasonable means.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete that information promptly.

Users between 13 and 18 must have parental consent to create an account.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information.
Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
Objection: Object to certain processing of your information.

10. California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete your personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information (which we do not engage in). 11. International Users

The Service is operated in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date and, for significant changes, by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
